Aquaponics 4 Life

We believe Aquaponics is the future of growing food. Aquaponics utilizes aquaculture and hydroponic practices in combination, to create an efficient and sustainable method of food production.

Aquaponics 4 Life sees each site as a location where people young and old can volunteer and give back to their community. It is a place for great fellowship and growing meaningful relationships. It is a place where the community comes to learn about healthy living from actively farming, to serving each other, to making sure no neighbor is without food. We see the mission of hope, love, joy, and peace being carried out with Christ like passion.

Our Mission

Renewable, Regenerative, Delicious

The vision is for individual communities to have at least one Aquaponics 4 Life site which can give away between 30 to 50 baskets of organic nutrient dense produce Bi-Monthly. These baskets of produce will be distributed to the community’s food insecure, single parents, seniors, and military families.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Each Aquaponics 4 Life site will provide the community with classes that will teach Aquaponics to those neighbors interested in growing their own food. Providing the people in the community a means of self sufficiency.

Our primary focus is establishing centralized locations and building connections in all the local communities we operate in. We seek to identify areas which could benefit most from Aquaponics 4 Life gardens.

Once we make meaningful impacts in one community, we plan to gradually expand Aquaponics 4 Life to other areas within San Diego. We are excited to extend our assistance to a wider range of communities interested in establishing their own aquaponics farms, gardens, and orchards.

Our ultimate goal is to expand our presence to a level where the benefits of Aquaponics 4 Life become evident and impactful across society. We aim to revolutionize urban agriculture and promote sustainable food production on a broader scale.

About Us

Aquaponics 4 Life was founded by Joel Mojica, My Thanh Kim, and Michael Gordon in 2019 to give back to the local communities that they work, live and serve in. We came together with one simple unified vision - "Grow to Give!"

Below is a quick introduction to our founders:

Joel Mojica

With a deep-rooted passion for sustainable agriculture, Joel serves as A4L's lead worker, orchestrating the development and maintenance of our innovative aquaponics system. With a wealth of expertise in aquaponic design and maintenance, he's the backbone of our operation, ensuring the seamless integration of aquaculture and hydroponics.
Joel's commitment extends beyond the technical realm; he's a dedicated mentor and leader. Every day, he leads and inspires students, fostering their appreciation for agriculture and empowering them with valuable leadership skills. His unwavering dedication to both the environment and personal growth makes him an invaluable asset to our team.

My Thanh Kim

My Thanh is a major driving force behind our aquaponics site's thriving plant ecosystem. Her expertise in plant cultivation runs deep, making her the go-to person for all things green. She is an expert Greenthumb, not only ensuring the health and vitality of our existing plants but also playing a pivotal role in diversifying our plant offerings.
My Thanh's ability to expand our list of cultivated plants is instrumental in our mission to continually enhance our site's productivity and sustainability. Her guidance and knowledge are invaluable, providing us with the direction and insight needed to make informed decisions.

Michael Gordon IV

Michael moved to San Diego in 2006 and graduated from San Diego State in 2009 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. In 2013 he founded his company MGIV Telecom and Technology which aims to assist businesses with their business communication and IT networks. When he is not working and volunteering, you're most likely to find him in the ocean enjoying one of his many passions as a waterman or lost in the mountains searching for his next fresh track. He is passionate about giving back to his community as much as he has recieved and feels very blessed to hold his position as CFO of Aquaponics 4 Life.
